In which we strive
Where we laugh but also cry
I will never
Stop wondering why.
What is it that makes you happy?
So happy, you could cry
Cry tears of joy
And with it comes thoughts
Memories of past successes
And thoughts of a brighter future
What is it that makes you sad?
So sad, you could cry
The same tears except this time
It brings with its different thoughts
Thoughts of past regrets
Of present decisions
And of future fears.
Good and bad things happen in life
Even to the best of us, believe it or not
From friends and family, I’ve heard the same
“Oh but didn’t you know, you’re not always to blame?”
You can’t control everything
Don't overthink and just let it be
In due time things will fall into place.
In the brightest of days
And in the blackest of nights
What happens one day
Can change the very next
From the deepest of thoughts
To the scariest of sights
Life has surprises
Surprises of all sorts
Life isn’t purely good
Nor is it entirely bad
Life just has to be understood.
Once again, I’ve been told
Told by my elders who see life
See life in a different way and in age are very old
Oh what a beautiful meaning of life
In them we can learn
Learn lessons of life
Experiences they speak
Ones we could only dream of
Life is strange
So they say
One day you’re happy
But sad the very next
We learn from mistakes
So don’t you hide from the world
Be part of it
If you give it your all
And try your very best
You won’t have to wonder about what you could have done
Because everything would work out
For the very best.
Life’s too short
Life is magical
Oh life is amazing. So make the most of it
“I’m not afraid of dying” Some elders say
Why should we be afraid of living?
Poetry makes you think. I’ve read and heard many in the past but these days, poetry is borderline magical to me. Some types of poetry rhyme and others don’t. The different forms of writing poetry are beautiful and inspiring. The beauty with it is that people can interpret the same poem in different ways. At the end of the day there’s always an important message to take away. So, I attempted to write my very first one today and if there was a quote to describe how I interpreted my piece, it would be this one down below.
